"Cempaka Telur"

I think its name is originated from its shape and the pleasant smell it produces. Usually it blooms only during the sunset (you can smell it at that time) and will wilt the day after. The other thing that is interesting about the plant is it only can be reproduced through air-layering. My mother would ask me to air-layer a few of its branch every time I go back home because some people she knows want to grow it at their house.

"Mak Su Zaharah Pisang Goreng"

Last week I went back to my hometown, Pasir Mas to visit my parents. During the visit, I had a chance to relive my past experience at my sister's in law's stall, which selling mainly fried bananas and keropok lekor. If you happens to pass the roundabout to enter the Pasir Mas - Rantau Panjang Highway, then you'll find a few stalls selling about the same delicacies. Look for my sister's in law's stall, Mak Su Zaharah. She's the one who started it all there about 20 years ago. Her fried bananas are quite tasteful and delicious in a way that could not be found in other place. At a time, I have helped her for a while after finished my study.
